Deputy PM says aggregators not affected by booking servers transfer

MOSCOW, Jul 12 (PRIME) -- A transfer of servers of flight ticket booking systems to Russia will not do any harm to aggregators, Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov told reporters on Friday.

“I am sure, it won’t harm them,” Akimov said. “It’s very important for us to execute the law. First, the Russian carriers should always have data on passengers they service so that nobody can disconnect us from such systems. The second advantage is that the existing system of sale of tickets, digital services of booking, trip planning won’t crumble.”

The Transport Ministry published in July draft requirements to a new system of online flight booking, which stipulate localization from January 1, 2020 of servers and databases of booking systems in the country. At present, databases exploited by most of flight booking systems are placed abroad.

Akimov said the regulation will not apply to foreign and local participants of the market using cloud technologies and having no own computing facilities.
